Riverwood Apartments is another project that was initiated by NSW Land and Housing Corporation (LAHC).
The proposed designs seek to improve the relationship of apartments to the public domain. By working closely with the developer, two options of concept designs were submitted for consideration by LAHC. The first option proposes a straighforward design that sits on a trapezoidal shape site. A second option was proposed to swap an inaccessible nature reserve located at the southern adjoning boundary with a new park created on the eastern end of the site. In this way, a new community park would have a street frontage and becomes accessible to the public. At the same time, this would create a communal space for the proposed apartments that is more usable for the inhabitants while generating a slightly higher yield of dwelling units. Such option is a win-win for both the community and the developer.
